An issue with one of the Whatcom Chief’s main engines was the reason for the service interruption between Lummi Island and Gooseberry Point.GOOSEBERRY POINT — Annual dry dock for the Whatcom Chief ferry will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and last 23 days.Crossing time approximately five minutes. Normal vehicle ferry service scheduled to begin May 21, 2023. Every year, the Lummi Island ferry Whatcom Chief goes into dry dock for maintenance at a shipyard.
